Morris LCS 25cwt Stores Carrying Body JLE 616 - 1948

"This type of vehicle was used for stores delivery and by engineers in the Post Office Engineering Department between 1948 and 1958. This model, 9723, was first registered in April 1950 and is a 1 ton stores carrying body and cab on a Morris 25 cwt chassis, with an LCS 9' 00" wheelbase. The body was built by Messrs. Samuel Elliotts Ltd of Reading under contract 6/VEH/1229/CB.27A. The Morris was designed with versatility in mind: the back may be covered or uncovered, there are folding seats along either side and with the top removed, a fuel tank may be added, to convert it into a tanker. It is also fitted with a tow hitch, to enable it to pull an engineering tool trailer.

The history is not known of this LCS, only that it was probably used in the London area. It was on sale in the Exchange and Mart in 1978, and was purchased from Miss J Mee of Presteigne in Powys, Wales. Restoration was started in early 1985 and was completed in December of that year."
