| Introduction
Today, many service industries are operated by the private sector,
either as 'Executive Agencies' or as a form of 'PPP- Public Private
Partnerships'. Not so very long ago, these activities would have been carried
out by government departments, in the public service. The following are some
of the more widely known services and we look briefly at the evolving names
and organisations.
[More details to follow later in 2008.]
DHSS - Department for Health & Social
Security
DSS - Department of Social Security
